Injured at work? Here are three things to do right away
June 11, 2019Three financial tips for those waiting on Social Security Disability benefits
August 5, 2019The sun is shining, it’s warm and there’s a nice breeze. It’s the perfect day to take your motorcycle out. But do you know everything you need to know about summer and motorcycle safety?
Summer is a great time to ride, but it’s also a great time to brush up on motorcycle safety tips.
Staying safe on the road should be a no-brainer, but summer can bring its own challenges for motorcycle safety. Here are four things you need to know. Read on:
Always wear a helmet
On those gorgeous summer days, it might be tempting to skip wearing a helmet. After all, what are the odds? But even if you are an excellent driver and have a stellar motorcycle safety record, there are other factors – and drivers – to consider.
So, never skip strapping on a helmet!
Stay sober
If you are riding your motorcycle to a party or restaurant, skip the beer or cocktail and stay sober. There is never a reason to get behind the handlebars while intoxicated. So, stay sober and make it home safely!
Suit up
We get it, it’s hot. But don’t skip wearing proper clothing in the summer because of the temperature. Make sure you have thick tops and bottoms on that cover your skin. And make sure they are bright and reflective, so other drivers see you.
Boots, gloves and a visor or goggles are also a good idea.
Watch for weather and other hazards
When you are on the road, be sure to keep an eye on the weather. Storms and rain can pop up fast in the summer, making it hazardous for motorcycle safety. Also, debris in the road (like grass clippings or leaves) can make it dangerous, so keep a good eye on the road in front of you.
